Impression of India

My impression of India is a little different than I expected. It's a lot easier to travel than I thought and heard. Then again, I started in the 'laid back South'. A lot of people I met that have been to India advised me to do that. In the North, the people are more 'in your face', they stare at you more and there are more scams going on.

The first two words that come to mind when I think about my impression of India are:
Crumbling
Smudgey

Crumbling is a word that the Lonely Planet uses a lot for the buildings in India. And it's true. Many buildings in the cities, towns and villages are in a bad state. They are dirty, falling apart or only half-built.

Smudgey are a lot of things here: the buildings (see above), the roads, the hotel rooms, the buses, the trains, the people.

What I said above sounds awful, but it's not. It's part of the charm of the country. It's something you already know before you come here, it's something you accept (many times with disapproval), it's something you get used to.

The other words to describe my impression of India:
lovely people
beautiful landscapes
great culture
good food

Is good to read that you're having fun and are enjoying the traveling!!!

Back home it's cold, sometimes white (like snow ).
